What a valid Clone Hero song download contains
According to the official Clone Hero manual, an extracted song folder needs chart data, audio and metadata. Common chart files are notes.mid or notes.chart. Metadata usually lives in song.ini. Audio filenames vary, but you may see song.ogg plus separate stems such as guitar.ogg, bass.ogg or drums.ogg.
Keep the files together inside one folder for that song. If an archive extracts into several unnecessary wrapper folders, Clone Hero may not reach the real chart directory through the path you added.
