Quick answer

Where should you download Clone Hero songs?

Use established community chart indexes such as Chorus Encore to discover charts, then review the charter, instruments, difficulty and source notes before downloading. For curated releases, setlists and themed events, community hubs such as Custom Songs Central can be useful.

A normal song download should be an archive or SNG package, not an EXE installer. This site does not host copyrighted song audio or promise an unauthorized bundle of every Guitar Hero and Rock Band track.

Best places to find Clone Hero song charts

A good source makes chart metadata visible before the download and helps you distinguish one community chart from another.

Chorus Encore is designed around chart discovery. Search by the exact artist and song title, then compare results instead of choosing the first filename. Two charts of the same song may use different audio, note authoring, instruments, difficulty levels or chart engines. A result with clear metadata is easier to evaluate than a bare file link.

Curated packs are better when you want a consistent theme or difficulty curve. Read the release page, not only the download button. A useful pack page should tell you what songs are included, who charted them, which instruments are supported and whether the pack expects a particular Clone Hero version.

What a valid Clone Hero song download contains

According to the official Clone Hero manual, an extracted song folder needs chart data, audio and metadata. Common chart files are notes.mid or notes.chart. Metadata usually lives in song.ini. Audio filenames vary, but you may see song.ogg plus separate stems such as guitar.ogg, bass.ogg or drums.ogg.

Keep the files together inside one folder for that song. If an archive extracts into several unnecessary wrapper folders, Clone Hero may not reach the real chart directory through the path you added. Open the final folder and confirm that song.ini and the notes file are visible near the audio files.

Artwork, video backgrounds and lyrics are optional. Their absence does not automatically make the chart invalid. An executable, browser extension or password tool is not a normal requirement for a song chart and should be treated as a warning sign.

How to choose between duplicate charts

  1. 1

    Check the instrument

A guitar-only chart will not become a drum chart after installation. Confirm five-fret, six-fret, drums or pro instruments before downloading.

  2. 2

    Check difficulty coverage

Full difficulty charts support more players. Expert-only charts are fine when that matches your skill level, but they are a poor fit for a beginner pack.

  3. 3

    Review the charter and source

Named charters, release notes and community feedback give you more context than a filename copied to an anonymous mirror.

  4. 4

    Avoid unnecessary installers

Song content should normally arrive as ZIP, RAR, 7z or SNG. Do not run an unknown executable to obtain a chart.

  5. 5

    Test one version first

Install and scan a single chart before downloading every alternate version. Keep the one that has the audio mix and note authoring you prefer.

Install downloaded Clone Hero songs

For ZIP, RAR and 7z downloads, extract the archive first. Move the resulting song folder into the default Songs folder or another folder already configured as a song path. In Clone Hero, open Settings, choose Scan Songs and wait for the scan to finish. The official manual notes that changes do not appear automatically until a scan runs.

If the song is missing, check the bad song count and locate badsongs.txt. That report usually points to missing audio, invalid metadata, an unreadable chart or a directory structure that does not lead to the song files. Our how to add songs to Clone Hero guide provides platform-oriented steps and a folder example.

SNG packages use a different workflow because the song is stored as one container instead of an extracted folder. Review ZIP vs SNG for Clone Hero before converting or unpacking files unnecessarily.

Common questions

Clone Hero song download questions

Does Clone Hero have all songs included?

No. The game supports custom songs, but a Clone Hero download does not automatically include all Guitar Hero, Rock Band or commercial music catalogs.

What is the best Clone Hero song download website?

A searchable community index such as Chorus Encore is useful because it exposes chart metadata and multiple versions. Always review the charter, instrument and source instead of treating any index as an official music store.

Can Clone Hero song files contain viruses?

Normal chart downloads are archives, SNG files and media/chart files. An unexpected EXE installer is not required for a song and should not be run. Scan downloads with your normal security tools and use established sources.

Why does my downloaded song not appear?

Extract archives, confirm song.ini plus notes and audio files are together, place the folder in a configured song path, then run Scan Songs. Review badsongs.txt if it is rejected.

Can I download full albums for Clone Hero?

Community album packs exist, but availability and audio rights vary. Check the pack page, track list, author credits and source notes before downloading.

Should songs be ZIP or SNG?

Both can be useful. ZIP is broadly understood but must be extracted. SNG keeps one song in one file when your workflow supports it. See our dedicated format comparison.
